Headaches include aching, dull, or throbbing pain, usually concentrated in the forehead, temples, or base of the skull.
Some of these symptoms may overlap. Often people report headaches over the whole head.
We do a thorough history of your headache. It is important to get a history because it gives us clues as to the underlying cause of your headache. We have often found problems in someone’s neck with forehead headaches, but with headaches in the base of the skull people often have a problem in the base of their spine. Often it can be a different issue with other types of headaches.
Often when people get relief for their headaches, chiropractic becomes their first treatment, before they reach for medication. We do a thorough assessment of your spine. This can include X-rays of your whole spine.
We also feel how each of your vertebrae is moving with incredibly gentle movements to find the areas of fixation in your spine.
- If there is an underlying spinal fixation triggering or aggravating your headache then there is a good chance that it will continue to return.
- It is awlful to live with headaches.
